Have to be careful with games like this because there are a lot of people claiming to have pieces they don't actually have. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396535752851450625.post-40676630183886788042016-06-18T23:55:40.219-05:002016-06-18T23:55:40.219-05:00Here's my story of how I lost the $1M twice
...Here's my story of how I lost the $1M twice

It seems there were no winners for the $1M prize? I had all the pieces on the $1M expect the rare piece $618H, so I put in craigslist for $100k as a joke, even thought that would be cheap since the lump sum was $640k to the winner. I got contacted by someone in Maryland who wanted to buy my piece for $100. Told them they would still need to get the $618H piece, they didn't seemed bothered. I told them I would hold on to my pieces for a little bit longer to see if anyone wanted to spilt the winnings.

Someone guy from California contacted me and told me he had the $618H piece and would go half and half with me. I contacted my lawyer to see how we could do this so both of us would get the prize. Lawyer explained to put it in a trust that we both create and either of us can claim it for the trust and we would get the prize. I had photos of my monopoly set on craigslist to show I wasn't kidding. I asked for a photo of $618H from this guy and he said he would have his sister take a photo of his board since he was out of town, photo came back and wasn't the right piece. Seems he had mistaken one of the other prize pieces for the $618H, all good was an honest mistake. But what a thrilling week that was thinking we were going to each get a good amount of cash.

So weeks later the same people from Maryland email me again about my ad, offering me $100 for the $613C piece, not knowing we had emailed a few weeks ago. They are so pushy about it and had me thinking, they must have the $618H piece. We go back and forth on emails after they sent me a pic of $618H (seemed legit) about what I want for my piece and how we would do this spilt. They are not interested in a spilt or paying me the $100k that I am asking for the $613C piece, they want to give me $100 for my piece. They state if I fly to Maryland they will make it worth my while and even pick me up at the airport. Now mind you this is like 2 days before the deadline to claim any prizes. I was thinking why the hell would they not just make a deal with someone who had the $613C piece and wait to the last damn moment? I even asked that in my email, they stated they wanted to get the best deal (pay the least amount for $613C)

I understand it, but I just wasn't getting a good vibe from these people and the fact that they were being shady by trying to hide the fact that they had $618h made it worse. I didn't bother with them after this and since they said they had backups, I just figured they would try to screw me over or waste my time. I still don't see a winner for the $1M and from Maryland, so I am guessing if they really had the winning piece, they got too greedy and lost out by trying to screw someone over by not at least paying them something for $613C.

That's my story so I had a great experience with a guy that was willing to go half and a couple that seemed greedy. That is money, it effects you or it doesn't. I wont be paying these type of games anymore after this though. Its rigged so no one wins, one has a better chance of winning Mega Millions or the Powerball. It was fine while I playing but I wont waste my time on Albertsons anymore. I guess it is not surprising how very few of the top prizes were claimed considering the rarity of the tickets and the need to match them with the semi-rare. Hopefully the stores will see how many people were unhappy with the results so they can make it easier to win something next time even if it is something small like $5 off $50 of groceries. Apologies again for going on at great length; I am not offended by anyone who chooses to stop here.

First, thank you very much to "connected isolation" for making this forum possible. Your information on rare and semi-rare tickets saved me many hours of time and frustration. This was a valuable public service.

It is June 2 and the customer winners through May 27 (three days after the deadline to claim a prize) have been posted at the Monopoly game site. None of the three $1 million prizes were awarded and none of the three $500,000 vacation home prizes were awarded. This follows the 2015 pattern, when the top prize to be awarded apparently was a $500,000 "second chance" prize (source: 2016 game board).

Only two of the 25 $100,000 cash prizes were claimed. Three out of 25 home makeovers were awarded...and so on down the line. I counted 10 jetskis and 10 family vacations; 50 of each were up for grabs.

For the lesser prizes there are, of course, dozens of happy winners nationwide. I think at least 230 or so of the 350 spa treatment prizes were awarded.

For the major prizes, though, clearly these are very meager results. But it was designed that way. I do not think the Monopoly game is a "scam" or even terribly deceptive -- as long as you understand and accept how it works. As I and many others here noted, it is exceedingly difficult to obtain both the rare and semi-rare markers for the top prizes. And for a customer who doesn't consult a website like this one, it's easy to see how you could get one of the three ultra-rare markers for the $1 million prize, for instance, and not realize what you had...because you're still lacking the semi-rare one. Even at the level of the jetski and family vacation prizes (which required both a rare and semi-rare marker), only 20 percent of the prizes were claimed.

As I said earlier, the genius behind this game -- and a rather insidious one at that --is to convince millions of shoppers that they are "just one away" from a huge prize. (One day a checkout clerk asked me if I was "getting close" on anything, and I responded, "Isn't everyone?") The truth, however, is that if you have three of the five markers for the family vacation, three of the five markers for the $100,000 cash or six of the eight markers for the $1 million you are -- and this is hard for many people to accept -- no closer to winning than you were before the contest began. Anyone with a few hundred game pieces is going to have all of those markers. Those tickets may just as well say, "Sorry, this is not a winner. Try again."

I do feel sorry for anyone who ran up their food bill, bought goods they did not need or paid more for something than it cost at a competing market, just to get more game pieces. As I read other comments in this forum, I see many people who are bitter over their lack of results. But this is not a contest you can "try to win," at least for the major prizes. Now I could be way, way off on this next part, but in looking at the odds chart on the Monopoly game site, my guess is that there were at least 2.4 billion game pieces nationwide (17 store chains in 30 "market states" plus the District of Columbia). Three of them had the $1 million prize.

So next year? I hope I win a $100 gift card. Or at least something other than more game pieces.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396535752851450625.post-28793658218377332322016-05-24T18:59:51.152-05:002016-05-24T18:59:51.152-05:00I have ?622D for vacation home does anyone have ?6...I have ?622D for vacation home does anyone have ?625G
brianajames@comcast.netAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7396535752851450625.post-11989558641748946362016-05-24T11:59:06.042-05:002016-05-24T11:59:06.042-05:00I have D517C and C514E. The total in prizes offered, including store gift cards, which give money back to the stores in sales, is about $43 million. So subtract that from the $165 million offered "in prizes and money savings offers" leaves $122 million in store coupons, which average 5-10% in savings.
