Feit Eternalite LED Nightlight Review

When I moved into my new place years ago, I was looking for a nightlight for the bathroom and kitchen to give a little light when it was dark. In the past I had used traditional nightlights with replaceable bulbs, but this time I decided to try out the LED style that lasts longer and uses very little energy.

I found a sleek looking nightlight by Feit Electric for about $5 at the local hardware store. They are also available online at sites like Amazon. I took them home, plugged them in and they were good to go! One of the nice features about them is that they are light sensitive so when the room light is on, they turn off automatically. Then they turn back on as soon as it is dark again. They provide plenty of light to see where you are going at night without being too bright.

I have now been using them for about 7 years and they are still going strong. The packaging says they only use 25 cents worth of electricity per year which is pretty impressive for a light that is on most of the time. I would highly recommend them if you are looking for a nice looking nightlight that is reasonably priced and will last a long time.

BFvsGF Announce Split and End of Vlogs - This Time it is Not a Prank

In an emotional video yesterday, Jesse and Jeana from Youtube channel BFvsGF announced sad news that they would be taking a break from each other as well as discontinuing their daily vlogs millions have come to love. In summary, the stress of recording their lives everyday and sharing it with millions of people has taken a toll on them and their relationship so they have decided to take a break.

This is big news to someone like myself who has been watching their videos everyday for years. I, like most people, first found them through their prank channel PrankvsPrank and soon became a subscriber of their daily vlogs on BFvsGF. One of my favorite things to do is watch Youtube videos and BFvsGF has been one of my favorite channels all these years.

They provided daily entertainment for millions of fans but they provided so much more than that. As they gained popularity, their fame afforded them the opportunity to attend big events, meet famous people, and travel to different cities and countries around the world. I know myself and many others almost lived vicariously through them as they experienced many things that most people will never get a chance to experience.

Jesse and Jeana had a huge influence on their audience and they took the responsibility to set a good example for the Peeps. Were they perfect? No, but as they have mentioned in past vlogs, they always looked to set a good example and because of that, making the vlogs encouraged them to be better people themselves.

Many people will undoubtedly be upset to hear about this news, but it is completely understandable. Their lives have been on display and under scrutiny each day for years and while it is the reason for their success, if they decide to change paths and do something else, well, as their friend Ed Bassmaster would say, “They got every right ta”.

So what will the future hold for BFvsGF and Jesse and Jeana? Jesse has announced plans to move to New York while Jeana will stay in Philadelphia. Jesse has expressed interest in continuing to make videos such as short films. I'm sure we will continue to see new projects from both of them, just not as frequent as we have come to expect.

Personally, I would like to thank Jesse and Jeana for sharing their lives with us over all these years. I wish you guys all the best and success in whatever you decide to do next! We will miss you guys and hope to see you again soon! Peace, on the streets, SAAAN!

Live with Kelly Post Strahan Era

Live with Kelly and Michael has been one of my favorite morning shows to watch over the past few years, so it was big news a few weeks back when they announced that Michael Strahan would be leaving the show to join Good Morning America. This past Friday was his last day. It was a good episode with lots of recaps of his time on the show. There is a good chance he will come back eventually as a guest or guest co-host.

I tuned in yesterday with eager anticipation on what it would be like since he left and it is now just Kelly and a guest until they find another permanent co-host. I was kind of surprised at how well they made the transition. Everything from the intro for the show to the coffee mugs on the table had been updated to reflect the change with "Live Kelly".

I'm glad to see they were able to continue without missing a beat. Kelly is amazing and brightens up each day with this show. The first co-host was Jimmy Kimmel who is a friend of the show and does a great job at filling in as co-host.

It will be interesting to see who eventually gets to take the permanent spot next to Kelly. From what I have seen, some of my favorite episodes are when her husband Mark Consuelos joins in. I think he would make a great co-host but it might be too much for them to live together and work together. Another one that comes to mind is Josh Groban who has been on the show a few times and always does a good job.

Whatever happens, it is good to see Live with Kelly is still going strong!

Arm and Hammer Essentials Deodorant Review

I had been using Speedstick Power Gel deodorant for some time and overall it has been ok but recently I decided to try out a new deodorant to compare. What sparked this change was one day I dropped the Speedstick and the gel got all over the floor. I cleaned it up, but I noticed the floor still had a very slippery texture. I kept cleaning it but it was very hard to get it back to non-slippery condition. I figured if it was this hard to get off smooth tile, it must really be sticking to skin!

So I started looking at some alternatives and decided to try one of the natural deodorants. I found Arm & Hammer Essentials Deodorant for a reasonable price so I decided to try it out. I was thinking it was going to be a white stick, but it is actually a clear stick inside. It has a very good scent that I actually like better than the Speedstick Gel.

Upon trying it out over several weeks, it works very well as a deodorant. It is not an antiperspirant so it is not designed to minimize sweat, but it does keep you fresh all day. Also I noticed it does not build up a residue on the skin which I noticed with the Speedstick Gel so that is also a plus.

Overall I am very pleased with the Arm & Hammer Essentials Deodorant and will probably buy it again once this one runs out. I recommend it if you are looking for a natural deodorant with a great fresh scent at a reasonable price.

Update 2-23-17: It has been about 10 months and so far the deodorant has not even run out yet. I have bought a 2nd one already so it will be ready to go as soon as the first one runs out. Overall I have been very pleased with this deodorant. It still has a great scent and it lasts a long time too!

Update: 11-2-17:  The original deodorant still has not run out and it has been nearly a year and a half. These really last a long time!

Update 6-14-19: This is still my favorite deodorant. Also check out a review of the Arm & Hammer body wash shampoo which I also recommend. 

Update 4-20-22: It seems they have updated the formula on the most recent edition of the product. It mentions they added moisturizers and the consistency does feel like that which is not a good thing. With armpits, you want them to be more dry, not more moisturized so I'm not sure what they were thinking with that choice. The scent seems to be a little different too, not as good as before. Overall it is still ok, but I think the previous formula was better.

10 Best Toys of the 80s and 90s

I was doing a little reminiscing about toys I had growing up and wondering what ever happened to them. I guess once you get older, you no longer want toys and they end up being given away or passed on. As an adult looking back, it would have been a great idea to hold on to them as collectibles or just for fun! Never the less, I decided to round up a list of my favorite toys from the 80's and 90's. Note: This list is from a boy's perspective so it does not include girl's toys.

10. Yomega YoYo
Yoyo's have been around for a long time and there are a lot of cheap ones out there that do not work very well, but in the 90's we discovered high quality yoyo's like those from the brand Yomega. They allowed you to do lots of tricks and they were not too expensive. I had the Brain yoyo and the Fireball yoyo. They are still available today in case you are looking to pick up a new hobby!

9. Micro Machines / Hot Wheels
Micro Machines were miniature cars you could collect and play with. They had replicas of real cars as well as other things like boats and planes. Also Hot Wheels goes along with this category because they are also collectible cars but are in a larger scale. Both were a lot of fun to collect and play with on the tracks and settings made for the cars.

8. Action Figures
Action figures are a staple in the toy industry and growing up, I had many of these from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to X-Men, to Transformers. They are a great way to own a piece of your favorite cartoons and movies!

7. Nerf Products
Nerf made the foam dart shooting guns and accessories which were always a fun interactive toy. They were a relatively safe way to battle with your friends. I had a few of these Nerf guns which were great until you end up loosing the darts!

6. Gak / Play Doh
As a young kid, Play Doh is another one of those staple toys. It's jar of colorful doh you get to mold into anything you want. Endless fun and possibilities. Nickelodeon Gak came out a bit later and was more of a slime texture but just as much fun!













5. Trading Cards
Technically these might not be considered a toy, but trading cards were a big deal back in the day and it was one of our favorite things to collect and trade with friends. We collected Marvel cards as well as sports cards trying to get the complete sets and the special bonus cards!

 4. Pipeworks 
Playskool Pipeworks may not be as well known as some of the others on this list, but it was one of our best toys as a kid. Basically it was a set of PVC pipes and connectors that allowed you to build many different things from monkey bars, to cars, to slides. They need to bring these back again!

3. Remote Control Cars
Remote control cars were one of my favorite toys. Just charge them up, take them outside and drive them around the neighborhood. We usually got these from Radio Shack where you could get some pretty fast cars!

2. Lego
Another classic toy that has been around for some time and continues to be one of the most successful. Legos let you create things piece by piece following instructions, but you can also use your creativity to build your own things once you have collected a lot of pieced. This is something that is still fun even as an adult.

1. Nintendo
The original Nintendo was pretty much the most amazing thing at the time. It might not have been the very first video game system, but it was the first one that really caught on, at least during this time. From the original Mario Bros and Duck Hunt to all the games after, Nintendo was a great toy and it set the stage for the modern video games we have today.

Jimmy Johns $1 Sub Customer Appreciation Day

Today, April 21st, Jimmy Johns Sandwiches is celebrating Customer Appreciation Day by offering subs for just $1. There are some restrictions for example, it is only during lunch hours of 11-3pm and they must be ordered in store, so no delivery. Also it is one per customer but you can get back in line to order more subs.

They are offering subs 1-6, the slim subs, and the BLT for $1. I don't go to Jimmy Johns often, but I figured I would head over to the nearest location to check it out. I was planning on picking up a sub but as soon as I pulled in, I saw the line out the door all the way around the building!

$1 sub is a good deal, but I was not going to wait in line for a half hour just to get a deal on a sub so I decided to pass on it. But if there is a Jimmy Johns near you and you don't mind waiting in line, I recommend taking advantage of this great deal!

iFLY Indoor Skydiving Review

I am usually not the daredevil type but years ago when I learned about indoor skydiving, I knew it was something I wanted to try. It was not until recently that they opened a location nearby so I was able to try it out. The location was part of iFLY which now has many locations around the US and around the world.

We booked our appointment a couple weeks in advance since it is very popular and the openings tend to fill up fast. The website is well organized and you can book your time online and fill out the waiver without having to print anything out. The website is also very informative and gives you a good understanding of what to expect when you get there.

When we arrived, there was some confusion on the scheduled fight time, but they were accommodating and able to fit us in at the time we scheduled. After we checked in, we went up to see the wind tunnel. It was very impressive! You get a preview of what it will be like as other groups are in the tunnel taking turns flying.

I was surprised how far down and how high up the tunnel actually goes. There is a strong net at the ground level, but the tunnel goes down much further. I started getting a little nervous especially seeing how high some of the other people were going!

After watching the other groups for a while, it was time for the training session. For this we watched a quick video that explained the basics and what to expect during the experience. We met our instructor who gave us some more tips and signals that will be used in the wind tunnel.

Next we went to get our suits, helmets, goggles, and ear plugs. It was pretty easy. The first suit and helmet they gave me fit perfectly. They also had lockers there to put your stuff since they do not recommend carrying anything in pockets.

Next it was time for our group to go to the wind tunnel! We filed in one by one in the waiting section which is around the outside of the main tunnel. Each person in our group went in with the instructor for about 1 minute of flight. The instructor is there to help stabilize you and keep you level and center.

I was a little nervous but at the same time, there was not much to be nervous about because there is not much you have to do. You just have to put yourself out there and try to stay in the flight position. When it was my turn, I just went for it. It was about as windy as expected. It was also a little noisy, but the ear plugs and helmet definitely help with that.

In flight, it is pretty intense! I remember thinking, I have no idea if I am doing a good job or not. At first I was a bit unstable but soon you are able to get the hang of it and it becomes more smooth. After a minute, the instructor leads you to the exit door so you can pull yourself back to the waiting area.

They give a 2nd turn to fly and in the 2nd one, we got to go up much higher with the instructor. In the first one you are about 5 feet off the ground but in the 2nd flight, they take you up about 40 feet in the air! I was not too keen on this idea, but everyone in the group was doing it, so I figured I would just try it. Going up high was a lot of fun and I am glad I did it!

At the end, our instructor went into the tunnel and put on a show with some amazing moves and flight control. He was a good instructor and made us feel comfortable during the whole experience.

One more thing that is nice about iFLY is they take video and pictures of each session so you will have a chance to see how well you did in the pictures and videos afterward. It does cost extra, but it is definitely worth it to see the results!

If there is anything that could be improved, I was thinking some group stretching exercises or a bit more practicing of the flight position before getting into the tunnel would be helpful. Also for my flight, when I went up high with the instructor, we spun around very fast which made it dizzy and kind of hard to focus. Other than that, it was a great experience and I would recommend trying it out at least once if you think it is something you would like to do.
