Get Ready for the Women's World Cup! Let's Go USWNT!

The 2019 Women's World Cup for soccer begins this Friday and the US Women's National Team will be playing their first game on Tuesday June 11th. They are currently ranked number 1 in the world so it should be a great tournament!

I have been following the US women's team since 2015 when they won the last World Cup and since then, they have become my favorite sports team. I'm not even sure how I got so into it, but I love this team! I didn't even play soccer growing up, but I just love watching these games.

The team consists of 23 players, some of which were on the last World Cup team, but there are also a lot of new players who will be making their first World Cup appearance. All the women are talented players and have great personalities which makes the team even more likable.

This year's roster includes: Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, Christen Press, Jessica McDonald, Mallory Pugh, Megan Rapinoe, Rose Lavelle, Morgan Brian, Julie Ertz, Lindsey Horan, Allie Long, Samantha Mewis, Tierna Davidson, Abby Dahlkemper, Crystal Dunn, Ali Krieger, Kelley O’Hara, Becky Sauerbrunn, Emily Sonnett, Alyssa Naeher, Adrianna Franch, and Ashlyn Harris.

In case you are new to the team, here is a series called 23 Stories which features each of the players talking about something that is important to them.

The games will be airing on FOX so it should be easy for everyone to watch. Tune in this summer and show your support. Let's go USWNT!

US Womens National Team Rio Olympics Wrap Up

I have been following the US Women's National Soccer team since the World Cup last year and since then, they quickly became my favorite sports team. They are a great team with lots of wonderful personalities and are just a lot of fun to watch.

While the roster has changed a bit from last year's World Cup team, they still have a lot of the same players and staff. The team was favored to win gold again this year but they struggled throughout the tournament. It seems the chemistry was not quite there this time as they had trouble converting on opportunities.

They ended up making it to the quarter finals of the 2016 Rio Olympics but lost a close game against Sweden in a penalty kick shootout. Throughout the game, the US seemed to be dominating at least on possession, but Sweden proved to be more efficient with the few opportunities they had.

I don't blame anyone for the loss as it was a fair game and Sweden earned the victory. It is very disappointing for the US team, but it is a lesson that they are not unbeatable. I am still very proud of the US Women's National Team and will continue to follow their progress as they train for the next big tournament!

2015 Womens World Cup Review and US Womens Team

Soccer has never been as popular in the US as it is around the world, but it seems to be gaining popularity as of late. I recently began to appreciate the sport with the men's World Cup last year.  It was a lot of fun to see all the different countries competing against each other in the same game. The fact that it is teams from all over the world competing together makes it more interesting than just watching a competition between teams of the same country. Even though the US did not get too far in the tournament, it was still fun to watch.

Which brings us to the 2015 Women's World Cup. Historically the women's US team has done well in this tournament and this year is no different as they have been doing great!  I have been watching the games this year, not only the US games but other teams as well. I find the women's World Cup to be just as much fun to watch as the men's World Cup. The US team has a lot of great players and personalities which makes them easy to cheer for.

Yesterday they played the number 1 ranked German team.  It was a great game with a lot of dramatic moments. It was a close match but the US team managed to pull off a 2-0 win to move on to the final game! They play the winner of Japan / England who are playing today in the semi finals.  Here are some highlights from the match:

The final game will take place this Sunday at 7pm eastern on Fox. I will be watching and I highly recommend everyone check it out as it should be a good game and the US team has the opportunity to win the World Cup!

Update 7-5-15: Congratulations US Women's Team World Cup Champions!

Update 3-16-16: The US Women's National team is now my favorite sports team and I continue to support them as they make their way to the 2016 Olympics in Rio!
